Support Services for Survivors of Sexual Violence
In fiscal year 2021-2022 PAAR served 2,555 clients through various modalities to help survivors from sexual violence. PAARs helpline volunteers and advocates respond 24/7 to victims in crisis from sexual violence. In the light of the pandemic and other societal factors, PAAR saw an increase in the need for our services from education and prevention, addressing critical essential needs to brief supportive counseling and trauma processing. PAAR also provided prevention and education programs to over 11,960 individuals in Allegheny County. This year, Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR) made significant strides in supporting survivors and raising awareness about sexual violence. PAAR served 2,447 clients through medical and legal advocacy, trauma processing therapy, counseling and case management. PAARs helpline volunteers and staff responded 24/7, 365 days this year to 1,898 victims in crisis. The organization expanded its outreach programs, providing educational workshops in local schools and communities, and increased accessibility to counseling and case management services.
