TDA Scholarship Program $15,965 -- Our second largest program activity this year was paying school fees for the children of the members of the Tetepare Descendants Association TDA. Since 2008 the Conservation Agreement Fund has provided hundreds of scholarships to the children of TDA members. The scholarship program is one of the most important elements of our support for Tetepare because of its effectiveness in building community commitment to the islands conservation. This year we granted scholarships to 82 children 44 boys and 37 girls at a cost of SBD $1,500 each equivalent to approximately $175. In addition over the Christmas holiday we sponsored visits by a TDA board member to primary and secondary schools on nearby islands. These schools have benefited from our annual scholarship program. The purpose of these visits was twofold: to gather feedback on the scholarship initiative from students and staff and to share information about our conservation efforts. This outreach aimed to strengthen the connection between our educational support and environmental preservation goals in the region.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$0TDA Annual General Meeting
TDA Annual General Meeting $10,270 -- Our third largest program activity this year was to provide funding for the TDA annual general meeting AGM. This was the first AGM since the Covid epidemic closed the Solomon Islands to outside travel in 2020. Our funding for the meeting covered the costs of hiring boats for travel from surrounding islands international air fare for one TDA board member living in Fiji and food and lodging for all attendees. Funding for annual meetings is a key element of our support for Tetepare. Since TDA members are widely dispersed on surrounding islands annual meetings are often the only opportunity for face-to-face interaction and for fostering unity and understanding among the associations members.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$0
