The St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy, which opened in 2018, is the first free-standing pharmacy in the state of Texas that provides lifesaving medications to the uninsured free of charge. Many residents of Texas cannot afford the necessary prescription medications to maintain their chronic, treatable conditions like diabetes, asthma and heart disease. The inability to sustain health affects the ability to maintain steady employment, care for family and escape poverty. It also contributes to increased costs across the health care system as unreimbursed emergency services become primary health care for those who cannot afford medication. We exist to serve those who cannot afford to sustain their health. The Pharmacy provided 80,544 prescriptions to patients free of charge with a total value of $23,515,278 (Average Wholesale Pricing valuation method).
