Amirah's residential program provides a long-term recovery option to women survivors of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. Women spend an average of 2.5 years in one of Amirah's safe homes, participating in whole person, trauma-informed care at no cost to them. Recovery plans are individualized, designed to help each woman achieve her unique goals in independence.GeographiesMassachusetts, USA;Connecticut, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedVictim aidAdults,Women14–Outreach
Amirah's outreach program brings services and resources to women currently exploited or at risk for exploitation in the commercial sex trade. The Community Resource Center provides safety planning, clinical care, peer mentorship, case management, resiliency groups, and onsite childcare in a women's sanctuary in Lynn. Amirah's outreach team operates resiliency groups in prisons and correctional facilities, led by lived experience experts. Resiliency groups are designed to reach incarcerated women who have been trafficked knowingly or unknowingly. Outreach to incarcerated women is a key aspect of this program, as many trafficked women are arrested for crimes they are forced to commit.GeographiesMassachusetts, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedVictim aid,Abuse preventionWomen,Adults100–Education
