Cincinnati Opera Performance Season
In 2022, Cincinnati Opera returned to its primary venues, Music Hall and the School for Creative and Performing Arts, for its first indoor, in-person performance season in nearly three years. During June and July, the company presented five opera productions: Giacomo Puccini's La Boheme, Gilbert & Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance, Giuseppe Verdi's Aida, and the world premieres of Fierce (music by William Menefield and libretto by Sheila Williams) and Castor and Patience (music by Gregory Spears and libretto by Tracy K. Smith). Patrons and critics alike celebrated the company's return; the season's productions garnered rave reviews and earned media coverage from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and NPR, among dozens of other outlets. The company opened the 2022 season with Opera for All, a free, family-friendly open house at Music Hall featuring a peek behind the scenes, as well as demonstrations and activities for audience members of all ages. The company also presented its beloved alfresco concert, Opera in the Park, in Washington Park; Morris and Friends, a high-energy event featuring celebrated bass Morris Robinson and other world-renowned artists performing opera and gospel favorites; and a series of community events and performances throughout the year.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesSep 1, 2021 – Aug 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$7.5MProgram 1 [2025]
