Target Hunger Food Distribution
Food Services: Target Hunger is on the front lines of hunger every day through its food distribution system that includes food pantries, food fairs, a home delivery program, summer break food programs for children, mobile distribution sites, a community partner program, emergency food assistance, and two gardens. In 2024, Target Hunger distributed the equivalent of 1.6 million meals to 23,752 unique individuals in need and provided over 1,500 social service navigation referrals. These programs served individuals and familes from over 150 zip codes, and 57% residing in a 10-zip-code area concentrated in northeast and east Houston--neighborhoods with high food insecurity rates and classified by the USDA as food deserts.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$4.6MNavigation Program
The Navigation Program, staffed by a team of bilingual Community Health Workers, connects clients to critical resources such as rent and utility help, healthcare enrollment, and job training in addition to food assistance.
