Child Advocacy Center, Inc. (the Center) a Florida Not-for-Profit corporation located in Gainesville, Florida provided child-friendly, safe and supportive environment for abused, neglected, or trafficked children. The Center is a place where professionals social workers, counselors, law enforcement officers, state attorneys, victim advocates, medical professionals and others work as a team to coordinate investigations and interventions for each child abuse case. This multidisciplinary team collaboration expediates each childs time in the legal system and ensures that children are not re-victimized by the system, and that they and their families are provided the support and services needed to heal. In conjunction with this multi-disciplinary team approach, the Center offers a variety of trauma-informed services including specialized play therapy for child victims, their non-offending caregivers and siblings, forensic interviews, case management and tracking. In 2022, the Center provided these services to 2,219 child victims, providing 252 forensic interviews, and 5,527 therapy sessions. In total over 3,716 victims were helped and 27,969 victim advocate services were provided. The center is the only location in the area that is child-focused and utilizes the trauma-informed model adopted nationally by the National Childrens Alliance as a best practice for treating children who have suffered abuse.
