Racial and Economic Justice Initiatives
Network Power and Capacity Building: Alianza Americas leads nationally-coordinated efforts to promote racial and economic justice for immigrant communities focused on issues of climate, immigration, democracy, and more. As the central node to the network Alianza Americas provided a dozen capacity building trainings focused on strategic social media use, community organizing and education, healthy immigrant integration, and civic engagement education. The network raised awareness on the importance of programs like Temporary Protective Status (TPS), the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, and the impact of immigrant detention and deportations. Education and communications focused on changing negative narratives about immigration, and describing the many positive impacts that immigrants have on our communities. The Network Power program also initiated a Climate Justice initiative focused on growing the leadership of Latinx and immigrant voices in the climate movement by building capacity, creating organizing infrastructure, and education. Health Equity: Alianza Americas Health Equity and Justice program leverages the expertise of Latin American immigrant organizations as public health actors to address health inequities through education, health promotion training, and cultural engagement. Alianza Americas has worked with members and partners to address health disparities in prevention, testing, vaccination and treatment for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. Together with 17 member organizations based in 13 states, we reached more than 50,000 individuals with information and education on COVID-19 prevention and vaccination. Alianza Americas also led a coalition of Florida-based organizations to help increase vaccination rates among farmworkers and rural communities in Florida. Transnational Awareness Building: Alianza Americas defends and promotes human rights and mobility across the Americas and globally through educational seminars and learning tours. In 2021, the network raised awareness on the root causes of migration from Central America and Mexico by hosting a series of virtual webinars and delegations focused on the realities of people in Mxico, Guatemala and Honduras. Alianza Americas' also works to create stronger transnational coalitions and solidarity. In 2021, the network mobilized support for grassroots organizations in Central America responding to the aftermath of hurricanes Eta and Iota. This collective effort helped support the well-being of 30,000 individuals with medical assistance, food, water, and temporary shelter.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$4.5M
