DURING 2020, LACASA COMPLETED AN 11-UNIT, NEW CONSTRUCTION PERMANENT SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROJECT IN THE NEAR-SOUTH SIDE OF ELKHART, EXPANDING THE PORTFOLIO OF SUPPORTIVE HOUSING TO A TOTAL OF 44 UNITS. 10 UNITS OF NEW CONSTRUCTION MODULAR RENTAL HOUSING WERE ADDED IN THE NEAR-WEST SIDE OF ELKHART, BUILT ON LOTS MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE BLIGHT ELIMINATION PROGRAM THAT LACASA PREVIOUSLY FACILITATED FOR THE COUNTY/CITY. IN A NEAR-DOWNTOWN ELKHART NEIGHBORHOOD. CONSTRUCTION ALSO BEGAN ON 4 DUPLEXES (ONE HISTORIC REHAB AND THREE NEW CONSTRUCTION) IN A HISTORIC ARTS DISTRICT NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR DOWNTOWN ELKHART. LACASA COMPLETED AND SOLD ITS FIRST NEW CONSTRUCTION, FOR-SALE HOME IN A PILOT PROGRAM TO ASSESS THE USE OF MODULAR HOUSING TO REVITALIZE AGING AND UNDERSERVED NEIGHBORHOODS WITH NEW OWNER-OCCUPIED HOUSING. IN 2020, LACASA REDESIGNED AND REPACKAGED ITS FINANCIAL TRAINING CURRICULUM UNDER THE "MASTER IT" UMBRELLA WITH MASTER YOUR MONEY, MASTER HOMEOWNERSHIP, MASTER YOUR DEBT, MASTER YOUR CREDIT, AND MASTER STUDENT DEBT. THESE CLASSES WERE ALSO REFORMATTED FOR DELIVERY IN A VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT IN RESPONSE TO THE PANDEMIC. IN 2020, THESE CLASSES GRADUATED 142, 74, 19, 30 AND 22 STUDENTS, RESPECTIVELY. LACASA ALSO OFFERS INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT SAVINGS ACCOUNTS USED FOR HOMEOWNERSHIP, SECONDARY EDUCATION, TRANSPORTATION NEEDS OR TO START A BUSINESS. IN 2020, 16 HOMEOWNERSHIP CLASS GRADUATES PURCHASED HOMES.
