Multidisciplinary Arts Education Program
MFAs programming ran from September 4, 2021, through July 18, 2022. Enrolled Programs Included: Music -144 students participated in individual lessons as well as music recitals held in December and May and 26 students participated in the annual piano competition; Dance-280 students participated in group classes in ballet, jazz, and tap. In December and June, a public ballet, jazz, and tap show was presented; Tumbling-198 students participated in group classes and tumbling showcases held in December and June; Drama-39 participated in group classes and in a final performance held in June; Visual Arts-54 students participated in visual arts classes with public exhibits held in December and May; Karate-54 students participated in group classes and had 3 opportunities to complete belt tests to advance. In the summer: 5-week Summer Dance Intensive- 96 students participated in the daytime program with morning focused on dance and afternoon classes a variety of arts education. MFA also offered summer classes in tumbling, music, visual arts and karate. Outreach programing included: Modern Dance Week for 33 Intermediate and Advanced students with Winfred Haun Dancers; Classical Ballet for New Audiences (CBNA) program featured the classic ballet, Cinderella for a public audience of 750 on April 2nd, and a special performance for 650 school children on April 1st; the CBNA program also presented six 11-Minute Cinderella Ballet Workshops for its local school district since they were not doing off-site field trips; MFAs Get Off the Streets (GOTS) program employed 20 MFA students who received leadership, teaching and artistic training; and with COVID restrictions ending, MFA students were once again performing at celebrations such as Maywoods National Night Out and Broadview Fest; at School District 89s Back to School Picnic, and at See Chicago Dances Wave Wall Moves event at Navy Pier drawing one of the events largest crowds of the summer.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesAug 1, 2021 – Jul 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$828.5KProgram 1 [2025]
During FY2025, MFA served nearly 4,000 children: 803 non-duplicated students enrolled in MFAs grant-subsidized enrichment classes, and nearly 3,000 children who participated in outreach activities. MFAs programming ran from August 31, 2024 through July 12, 2025 providing 6,817 hours of instruction, with an average weekly enrollment of 970 and 100% of tuition costs being subsidized. More than half (61%) of MFA students served were from low-income or poverty level households, and in addition to the subsidized tuition, 45% of students received classes on full or partial scholarship. FY25 MFA Art & Fitness Classes: Dance: (256 students ) group classes in ballet, jazz, & tap, public performances in December & June Music: (240 students) individual voice, piano, drums, & guitar lessons. Music recitals in December & May; a piano competition in March Drama: (55 students) group acting classes focusing on scene and stage performance, 3 performances in May Visual Arts: (50 students) group classes covering various techniques & notable artists, a public exhibition in May Tumbling: (325 students): group tumbling classes with tumbling showcases in December & June Karate: (106 students): group karate classes with 3 opportunities to advance karate belt levels and an annual tournament in AprilIn March, MFA presented La Esmeralda, featuring 65 student dancers in the corps de ballet and 4 guest artists who served as inspiring role models. In addition to a public performance, a school show was attended by 1,000 local elementary school children, exposing them to the magic of ballet. MFA's partnership with local elementary School District 89, continued with MFA providing 300 preschool students, along with their parents, creative dance and tumbling workshops in April 2025.
