THE WORKFORCE SYSTEM IN THE CITY IS OVERSEEN BY THE MAYOR'S WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD (MWDB). DESC IS THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND FISCAL AGENT FOR THE MWBD. THE BOARD'S STRATEGIC VISION IS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE REVITALIZATION OF DETROIT BY CREATING A DEMAND-DRIVEN WORKFORCE SYSTEM THAT ENABLES CITIZENS TO ACQUIRE THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS THAT LEAD TO FAMILY-SUSTAINING EMPLOYMENT, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME PROVIDING EMPLOYERS WITH THE SKILLED WORKFORCE THEY NEED TO COMPETE GLOBALLY.
