Concerts: Serving as an anchor to Muskegon's arts community for 80 years, WMS has assisted in the recent renaissance of Muskegon's business district by maintaining its downtown offices and helping populate the city streets and businesses during concerts and other events. This promotes a more vibrant place to live, work and play. Education Programs: The West Michigan Symphony presents the Link Up program which pairs the orchestra with 4th grade classes for a yearlong, hands-on music curriculum culminating in a spring concert at the Frauenthal Theater reaching 4,600 students from 54 elementary schools in six Michigan counties annually. WMS also has a Children's Choir that provides training and performance experience to school-aged children throughout the Lakeshore communities. AN ANCHOR CULTURAL ORGANIZATION HEADQUARTERED IN MUSKEGON, WMS IS A RESIDENT PERFORMING GROUP AT THE FRAUENTHAL CENTER, WHERE ITS EIGHT-CONCERT SEASON IS THE MOST VISIBLE PART OF A LARGER ARTISTIC ENTERPRISE OF FAR- REACHING COMMUNITY BENEFIT. AT ITS LIVE LISTENING ROOM THE BLOCK, JUST DOWN THE STREET, IT MOUNTS 15 PERFORMANCE EVENTS ANNUALLY FEATURING JAZZ, CLASSICAL, FOLK, AMBIENT AND OTHER OFFERINGS.
