GIG Fund
The GIG Fund is a grant of up to $4,000 that supports creative projects and educational events in the Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and the Native Nations that share that geography). These funds help organizations present artists in their community by supporting programming and touring costs. Funds may also be used for project costs such as accessibility accommodations and marketing. Arts Midwest works with a panel to help review applications and award grants twice a year, distributing around 160 grants annually.GeographiesIllinois, USA;Indiana, USA;Iowa, USA;Michigan, USA;Minnesota, USA;North Dakota, USA;Ohio, USA;Wisconsin, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedFolk arts,Performing arts,Public arts,Visual artsAdults,Adolescents,Children,Preteens,Artists and performers130K–Creativity News Desk
The Creativity News Desk amplifies stories about the power of arts and creativity in the Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and the Native Nations that share that geography). We commission stories from writers, photographers, videographers, illustrators, and podcasters. We also support partnerships, grants, and learning opportunities for the media field. We seek out stories that go beyond traditional arts coverage and celebrate creativity in all its forms.GeographiesIllinois, USA;Indiana, USA;Iowa, USA;Michigan, USA;Minnesota, USA;North Dakota, USA;Ohio, USA;South Dakota, USA;Wisconsin, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedCultural awareness,Folk arts,Museums,Performing arts,Public arts,Visual artsAdults60K–Peter Capell Award for Midwestern Creativity & Entrepreneurship
In honor of Peter Capell's contributions to Arts Midwest and Midwestern creativity, the Peter Capell Award for Midwestern Creativity & Entrepreneurship has been established as a time-limited award, running for nine years beginning in 2022. The award recognizes Midwesterners working in the creative sector who demonstrate entrepreneurial thinking and business acumen. Over the course of its operation, the award will recognize an individual located in each of Arts Midwest's nine member states (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and the Native Nations that share that geography). The award will be open to nominees from one state each year, beginning with Illinois in 2022.
