Educational Enrichment for At-Risk Students
Educational Enrichment & Social Emotional Learning - The Training Center is a 21st Century Community Learning Center working with at risk students Kindergarten through 8th Grade in Marion IN . The Program assists in homework remedial reading & math STEM College and Career and Social Emotional Learning. Partnerships include Indiana Wesleyan University who provides college students to tutor in Math & Reading students from a variety of academic majors doing volunteer work practicums internships and other activities. Other partnerships include Grant County Purdue Extension who offer Nutrition Class 4H and STEM exploration. Grant Blackford Mental Health agency Keystone offers parenting classes. Family Resource FireFly partners to offer family classes and assist with hygiene products. The Center has served 82 students and 52 families this fiscal year. Meal Program-The Training Center serves healthy snacks and hot meals to students throughout the school year and summer program. Meals and snack consist of balance nutrition incorporating healthy choices under stand the food pyramid and wise choices. Proper nutrition strengthens the physical body and mind including thinking and emotions. The local childhood poverty rate is over 45% more than 78% of children attending school in Marion IN qualify for free or reduced priced meals The Center served 82 students and 52 families through this past fiscal year.
