CHARLESTON: IN ITS THIRD YEAR, CHARLESTON COUNTY HAS PARTNERED WITH LEADING EDUCATORS TO BOLSTER TEACHER KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL IN MATH AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS (ELA) IN A GROUP OF "ACCELERATION SCHOOLS". PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC, SOUTH CAROLINA STATE ASSESSMENT SCORES AT ACCELERATION SCHOOLS WERE DECLINING BY 4-5 POINTS PER YEAR WHILE ALL OTHER SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT INCREASED BY 8-9 POINTS PER YEAR. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LEADING EDUCATORS, AVERAGE YEARLY GROWTH FOR ACCELERATION SCHOOLS MATCHED THE GROWTH OF ALL OTHER SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT IN ELA AT 21 POINTS PER YEAR AND ACHIEVED DOUBLE THE GROWTH RATE OF OTHER SCHOOLS AT 13 POINTS PER YEAR IN MATH.NEW YORK DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (NYDOE):LEADING EDUCATORS' PARTNERSHIP WITH NYDOE, IN ITS SECOND YEAR, HAS ACHIEVED UNMITIGATED SUCCESS. IN LEADING EDUCATORS' SUPPORTED SCHOOLS, THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS PROFICIENT IN READING NEARLY DOUBLED FROM THE BEGINNING OF YEAR TO THE MIDDLE OF THE YEAR ON INTERIM ASSESSMENTS.
