2022 JH PUBLIC ART HIGHLIGHTS: 30 ARTISTS HIRED 6 FREE PLACEMAKING EVENTS WILDWALLS - WildWalls conservation murals included 12 temporary wheat paste murals, 2 permanent murals, and 9 new augmented reality animations created by 17 artists and sponsored by 8 conservation groups. WildWalls events included a Steamroller Printmaking Party and 3 mural tours. MOONSHOT - Each MoonShot presenter has 5 slides and 5 minutes to share their public art ideas. This year's juried prize winner received $3,000 to produce her "Tiny Gallery Collective" that will live at Teton County Library. The MoonShot was preceded by a keynote presentation from Jason McClennan, winner of the Buckminster Fuller prize, and considered one of the world's most influential individuals in the fields of architecture and green building today. TLAXCALA SISTER CITY MURAL PROJECT - High school students completed the Tlaxcala Sister City Mural to celebrate the relationship between the sister cities of Jackson and Tlaxcala, Mexico. Thirty-five high school students contributed to the new mural project as part of a Spanish Through Art class taught by Gabriel Lopez. LIGHT A WISH - The year ended with the installation of "Light a Wish" in Teton Village displayed by the Light Art Collective. Illuminated dandelion puffballs represent good intentions, desires, and dreams. 350 VISITS TO THE MOBILE STUDIO (FREE ARTMAKING IN PARKS/NEIGHBORHOODS) - Teton Literacy Summer Camp Community Artist: Winter Heaton - Students were challenged to consider how the built environment is influenced by natural surroundings and built cardboard models of their forts on the first day, then enlarged their projects on the second day to create structures they could enter and explore. - Suzanne Morlock: Vista360 & Energy Conservation Works: Flags of Hope - Inspired by a Vista360 vision, local artist Suzanne Morlock coordinated a community process to produce public artwork made from 140 flags using a magical solar printing process. The flags help us envision a greener tomorrow and inspire involvement in green energy initiatives. - Bland Hoke: The Small Village of Treepoli - Bland Hoke installed the small village of Treepoli in Garaman Park where community members helped create and install the natural structure that houses imaginary tiny people. - Thea Alvin: River Spiral - Made from river cobbles, "River Spiral" was created by renowned stone mason Thea Alvin with assistance from community members. - Matt Daly: H2O Poetry - Matt Daly, local poet and curator of the Poetry Box, worked with community members to design a visually intriguing, collaborative water poem. - Patch It, Don't Trash It! with partner Teton County Integrated Solid Waste & Recycling and artists Griffin Miller, Ava Reynolds, Lisa Walker, and Cara O'Connor - Original designs were printed onto recycled textiles that were cut to patch size and distributed at the People's Market for free, raising awareness of ISWR's textile recycling program.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$391.6K
