INCREASE ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD: FEEDING PA WORKS WITH FARMERS AND PROCESSORS TO INCREASE ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD FOR OUR FOOD BANKS AND THE CLIENTS THEY SERVE THROUGH THREE CRITICAL AGRICULTURE PROGRAMS. THE MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL COOPERATIVE PARTNERS WITH FARMERS, WHOLESALERS AND IMPORTERS TO DISTRIBUTE FRESH PRODUCE TO FOOD BANKS ACROSS THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION. FILL A GLASS WITH HOPE IS A CHARITABLE FRESH MILK PROGRAM THAT RAISES MONEY FOR FOOD BANKS TO PURCHASE FRESH MILK FROM LOCAL DAIRIES. IN JULY 2020, FEEDING PA BECAME THE CONTRACTOR FOR THE PENNSYLVANIA AGRICULTURAL SURPLUS SYSTEM, WHICH HELPS TO REDUCE FOOD WASTE, SUPPORT LOCAL FARMS, AND DISTRIBUTE NUTRITIOUS AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS TO PENNSYLVANIANS AT RISK OF HUNGER. NUTRITION EDUCATION: FEEDING PENNSYLVANIA CREATED A HEALTHY PANTRY INITIATIVE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH. ADVOCACY/DISASTER RELIEF: FEEDING PENNSYLVANIA PROVIDES A STRONG, COLLECTIVE VOICE FOR HUNGER-RELIEF ACROSS THE STATE. WE ADVOCATE FOR FEDERAL AND STATE POLICIES, PROGRAMS, AND INITIATIVES TO IMPROVE FOOD ACCESS AND RELIEVE HUNGER. FEEDING PENNSYLVANIA'S MEMBERS WORK IN RESPONSE TO DIASTERS IN COOPERATION WITH THE FEEDING AMERICA NETWORK AS WELL AS WITHIN THE COMMONWEALTH IN COLLABORATION WITH STATE AGENCIES WHERE FOOD RESOURCES ARE NEEDED.
