Foundation Accomplishments In 2020 the Foundation, through the Project Access (PA) program, facilitated services to over 2,200 patients by over 700 physicians and providers with an estimated value to the community of almost $7.7 million. Of those served, over 1,600 were new patients. WCMSF partnered with Dogwood Health Trust to distribute approximately $450,000 in personal protective equipment. The Healthy Healer Program continued offering discounted services such as therapy, coaching and other support services. WCMS Interpreter Network (WIN) assisted over 5,300 physician appointments helping limited English speaking patients as well as patients with hearing loss. The WCMSF Endowment provided a $3,860 grant to support CareReach, Inc. to provide screenings and self-care education to low-income people in McDowell County. The Charles Blair Health Scholar Fund provides scholarships for minority youth pursuing health careers. WCMS awarded scholarships to six students.
