Student Tours & Creative Programs
Holocaust Museum LA teaches the critical lessons and social relevance of the Holocaust, empowering students to stand up and speak out against antisemitism, hatred, and bigotry. Student tours are free and the Museum also provides bus transportation grants for Title I schools where field trips would otherwise be cost prohibitive. In cooperation with teachers, Museum staff customize each tour -- virtual or in-person -- to fit the age level (4th grade through high school), prior knowledge, background, and interests of the students. The Museum utilizes personal narratives, artifact-rich exhibits, and technology to provide meaningful access to this history. Every student visitor is given the incredible opportunity to meet with a Holocaust survivor and hear his/her testimony. We then provide time and tools for reflection so that students can further realize and reflect on the knowledge and concepts they gain from the tours, encouraging them to think about how learning from history can shape a more humane and dignified present and future. Creative educational programs teach middle, high school, and college students about the Holocaust, engage them in discussions, and nurture leadership and stewardship. These programs – centered around Museum visits – connect survivors with teens who learn about their own heritage, retell the survivors’ stories, and share their reflections through different art mediums, such as film, theatre, music and photography.GeographiesLos Angeles, CA, USA;100 The Grove Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90036, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedElementary education,Middle school education,Multicultural education,Secondary education,Antidiscrimination,Diversity and intergroup relationsAdolescents,Children,Preteens27.5K–Public Tours and Programs
