EDUCATION - CODE.ORG'S COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH AIMS TO MAKE COMPUTER SCIENCE A CORE PART OF U.S. EDUCATION. THE CODE.ORG PROFESSIONAL LEARNING PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO PREPARE K-12 EDUCATORS TO TEACH COMPUTER SCIENCE USING A DEFINED CURRICULUM PATHWAY PAIRED WITH HIGH-QUALITY PROFESSIONAL LEARNING RESOURCES THAT SUPPORTS TEACHER AND STUDENT SUCCESS. CURRICULUM AT CODE.ORG BLENDS TRADITIONAL AND MODERN FORMATS, MERGING LESSON PLANS, ACTIVITIES, AND ASSESSMENTS, WITH COMPUTATIONAL TOOLS, ENVIRONMENTS, AND LEARNING PLATFORMS. CODE.ORG PROVIDES THIS CURRICULUM, IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS, AND ONLINE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES, AND YEAR-ROUND MENTORSHIP AND SUPPORT FOR EXISTING IN-SERVICE TEACHERS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AT THE ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOL LEVELS. ADVOCACY - CODE.ORG'S ADVOCACY EFFORTS AIM TO SUPPORT POLICIES THAT INCREASE ACCESS TO K-12 COMPUTER SCIENCE FOR ALL STUDENTS; CODE.ORG ADVOCATES FOR STATE-LEVEL ADOPTION OF A POLICY FRAMEWORK TO SUPPORT AND EXPAND K-12 COMPUTER SCIENCE. IN PARTICULAR, CODE.ORG'S MAIN POLICY FOCUS IS GETTING EVERY SCHOOL TO OFFER AT LEAST ONE COMPUTER SCIENCE COURSE AND SUPPORTING THIS THROUGH THE ALLOCATION OF STATE FUNDING FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO GROW THE NUMBER OF TEACHERS WHO ARE PREPARED TO TEACH COMPUTER SCIENCE COURSES, AND ENCOURAGING STATES TO DEVELOP OR ADOPT K-12 COMPUTER SCIENCE STANDARDS.
