Choose Love for Schools
Our flagship program is a no-cost, evidence-based curriculum that covers 30 age-appropriate lessons for Pre-K through 12th grade. These lessons integrate principles of mindfulness, positive psychology, neuroscience, next-generation essential life skills, personal responsibility, and post-traumatic growth to promote resilience, emotional intelligence, optimism, and long-term psychological and physical well-being. We are the only solution for home, school, & community to incorporate Character.org's National Guidelines for Character and Social-Emotional Development (CSED) including moral, performance, intellectual & civic character traits with the five core components of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). It also includes components & standards from the American School Counselor association (ASCA) and Harvard's Brain Health Initiative. Designed by and for educators to foster critical competencies like self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills, these mindsets, practices, and resources have been shown to reduce behavioral issues, improve academic performance, and promote connection, belonging, and safer school environments. Schools represent the predominant, fertile environment where positive characteristics, psychological assets, and individual virtues reflected in thoughts, feelings, and actions can be developed and maintained (Furlong et al., 2014).GeographiesUnited StatesDatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEarly childhood education,Educational management,Out-of-school learning,Parent-teacher involvement,Student retention,Elementary and secondary education,Equal opportunity in education,Community mental health care,Adult peer mentoring,Civics for youth,Community service for youth,Creative Youth Development,Youth mentoring,Youth organizing,Youth services,NonprofitsOlder adults,Young adults,Children and youth,Caregivers,Families,Non-adult children,Parents,At-risk youth,Extremely poor people,Low-income people,Working poor,Victims of crime and abuse,Academics11M–Choose Love for Corrections
This 23-week program incorporates the Universal Design for Learning framework and engaging activities implemented during group sessions of both male and female incarcerated individuals to teach them how to thoughtfully respond to any situation. Staff mentors and peer facilitators are equipped with the tools to manage emotions, handle adversity, take responsibility, have courageous conversations, and reduce negative and reactive behavior. With this training, we build optimism, resilience, self-regulation and self-management skills, increase connection, and foster healthy relationships in and out of the prison setting. By addressing the root causes of violence and substance abuse, this initiative supports post-traumatic growth and contributes to safer communities and reduced recidivism, enhancing both social and economic outcomes in communities affected by incarceration. This program is so popular we currently have a waitlist of 239 individuals.GeographiesUnited StatesDatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedCommunity service,Job retraining,Continuing education,Equal opportunity in education,Depression,Learning disorders,Stress,Support groups,Prisoners' rights,Freedom from violence and torture,Parent education,Single parent support,Adult peer mentoring,Self-advocacy,Self-help groups,Youth mentoring,Rehabilitation of offenders,Services for offendersAdults,Ethnic and racial groups,Caregivers,Families,Parents,Extremely poor people,Low-income people,Incarcerated people500–Choose Love for Home (Parents)
