The organization's purpose is to enhance the quality, safety and efficiency of health care for South Carolina residents, and thereby improve health outcomes in the state, by implementing and expanding a state-wide health information exchange network, known as the South Carolina Health Information Exchange or "SCHIEx." The organization will also reduce the burden on state government by assuming responsibility for SCHIEx from the state of South Carolina.
