Theory of Action & Current Reach: Braven collaborates with higher education and employers to prepare students as they transition from college to career. Our two-part model is open to all students at an institution and begins with a credit-bearing college course followed by programming that lasts through 6 months post-graduation. Students emerge with the skills, networks, confidence, and experience needed to land a strong first job or enter graduate school and get on a path to economic freedom. To date, Braven has worked with 14,000 students. Current school partners include The City College of New York, Delaware State University, National Louis University, Northern Illinois University, San Francisco State University, San José State University, Spelman College, UMass Lowell, University of North Texas-Denton, and Rutgers University-Newark, and our stipend-based BravenX program. The Braven Model The Accelerator Course: The 3-credit Accelerator course strategically integrates career readiness development into the sophomore, junior, or transfer junior year experience. Recognizing the learning preferences of today’s students and optimized for human-centric interactions where they matter most, the course combines asynchronous modules with synchronous, hybrid online and in-person learning grounded in pedagogical research. Volunteer professionals, called Leadership Coaches, facilitate the synchronous experiential learning component for cohorts of ~5-8 Fellows each week, sharing real-world applications and feedback. The course helps students develop in six professional competencies: career navigation, leadership, organization, communication, teamwork, and problem solving. Programming Post-Course: Students who complete the course receive more opportunities to develop leadership and career-readiness skills, engage in a professional network, and stay on track to secure strong internships or jobs or enter graduate school through a) 1:1 on mentoring by professionals in their field, b) Braven networking events, career panels, and job skills sessions, c) joining a Braven Career Community, an industry-specific pathway that connects them to relevant resources, tools, people, learning experiences, and opportunities, and d) accessing internship and employment opportunities facilitated by Braven. Key Partners Higher Education Partnerships: Innovative regional schools have brought Braven’s experiential education model to their sophomores, juniors, and transfer students, recognizing its myriad benefits for students' professional and academic careers and their institutions in terms of persistence, delivering on economic ROI, alumni engagement, admissions, and fundraising. Braven complements career services teams by providing a career preparation foundation for students early in their undergraduate experience built into students’ busy schedules. Employer Partnerships: Across the entire Braven experience, shared-value partnerships with employers play a key role. For employers, these partnerships provide access to new sources of future talent as well as hands-on leadership development for current talent. For Fellows, these partnerships build up strong professional networks and open doors to strong internships and jobs.GeographiesNew York, NY, USA;Atlanta, GA, USA;Delaware, USA;Chicago, IL, USA;Illinois, USA;San Jose, CA, USA;San Francisco, CA, USA;Newark, NJ, USA;Boston Metropolitan Area, USA;Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area, TX, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEconomic developmentYoung adults14K–
