Business Accelerator
This 12-month program, offered twice per year, helps entrepreneurs launch new businesses. It begins with 12 weeks of immersive business training, followed by nine months of intensive support, including mentorship from a team of two experts per entrepreneur. Participants gain an extended professional network and can win cash prizes to capitalize their businesses. In total, each Entrepreneur receives more than 100 hours of technical assistance through the Accelerator (65 hours of classroom instruction plus meetings with their specific mentors), with a value of at least $12,000. Fundraising and volunteer support ensure that EforAll can offer this tremendous value - equivalent to a college course - at no cost to aspiring entrepreneurs.GeographiesNew Bedford, MA, USA;Fall River, MA, USA;Lowell, MA, USA;Lawrence, MA, USA;Haverhill, MA, USA;Lynn, MA, USA;Roxbury, Boston, MA, USA;Longmont, CO, USA;Berkshire County, MA, USA;Worcester County, MA, USA;Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA;Merrimack Valley, USA;Pioneer Valley, MA, USA;Holyoke, MA, USA;Springfield, MA, USA;Rhode Island, USA;Maine, USA;Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, AR-MO, USA;Beaufort County, SC, USA;Colleton County, SC, USA;Hampton County, SC, USA;Jasper County, SC, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEntrepreneurshipAdults,Ethnic and racial groups,Economically disadvantaged people,Immigrants and migrants325–Access to Entrepreneurship
Each EforAll site engages more than 100 local entrepreneurs each year. Every applicant to a Pitch Contest or Accelerator cohort receives individualized feedback that focuses on the viability of their business concept. EforAll’s program is designed to engage entrepreneurs beyond the tech sector, and to support those who launch storefront businesses or local-service ventures. These entrepreneurs often have limited access to start-up capital or more traditional “incubator” programs. These residents, who are frequently under-represented as entrepreneurs, are Black, Hispanic/Latinx, or other people of color; women; recent immigrants; and/or unemployed or underemployed. EforAll specifically seeks out aspiring entrepreneurs from these groups. In addition to the Business Accelerator program, we offer: Pitch Contests. Open to the public, these contests provide entrepreneurs with candid feedback to help them understand if and how to pursue their business idea. Participants can win cash prizes to capitalize their businesses. Networking Events. Conducted in-house and in partnership with chambers of commerce and other organizations, these events foster business connections for Accelerator participants, alumni, and entrepreneurs in the community. Prize Money. A majority of EforAll entrepreneurs are low- or moderate-income when they launch their ventures. They typically lack access to financial capital through existing assets or business investors, and some have limited credit histories to access even small-business loans. EforAll offers our Accelerator participants quarterly opportunities to win modest cash prizes. Since a majority of participants have limited access to financial capital, this prize money is often essential for our entrepreneurs to make early investments in their businesses. Prize money is awarded to entrepreneurs based on business class participation (scored on a rubric), entrepreneur class vote, and judges’ scores at entrepreneurs' final presentation. Judges score on clarity of vision, product/market fit, financials, and entrepreneur progress towards launch.GeographiesJasper County, SC, USA;Hampton County, SC, USA;Colleton County, SC, USA;Beaufort County, SC, USA;Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, AR-MO, USA;Rhode Island, USA;Maine, USA;Merrimack Valley, USA;Pioneer Valley, MA, USA;Berkshire County, MA, USA;Worcester County, MA, USA;Lowell, MA, USA;Lawrence, MA, USA;Haverhill, MA, USA;Lynn, MA, USA;Roxbury, Boston, MA, USA;Fall River, MA, USA;New Bedford, MA, USA;Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USADatesNot indicatedSourceUser-generatedEntrepreneurshipAdults,Hispanic/Latinx/of Latinx or Spanish-speaking descent,Economically disadvantaged people,Immigrants and migrants1.6K–
