  • Youth Yoga Empowerment Program

    Youth Yoga exists to empower and inspire teens in schools by giving them yoga exercises and meditation tools from which they will grow into confident adults and successful members of our society.Yoga gets you out of the conversations in your head and get you present with who you truly are. In a world where social media, depression, bullying, obesity and violence are growing at stagering speeds, our goal is to give youth the opportunity to learn how to connect with themselves. Youth Yoga is currently a part of the PE curriculum at three LAUSD schools in the underserved communities of East Los Angeles: Abraham Lincoln Senior High Ramona Opportunity Alternative High Harris Newmark Continuation SchoolYouth Yoga is creating after school programs for 10 Los Angeles Unified Schools.Youth Yoga also runs an annual event called Youth Yoga Week. During 5 school days in the spring, Youth Yoga certified yoga instructors volunteer their time to teach yoga and meditation to students in several schools around Los Angeles. Please visit our Youth Yoga Week page for more details.In all our programs, our classes are carefully developed to empower teens and kids to lead a healthy life. Our yoga lesson plans are built in parallel to the school's weekly curriculum. Our programs are also built to support the pillars of the California Board of Education. Each class is built custom to the specific needs of the demographic. Most of our classes start with a 3 minute meditation followed by a 45 minute physical practice of challenging yoga movement and finished with a short meditation and positive affirmation. Our programs have seen a lot of success and our students have positively transformed themselves.We are committed to making a difference and we are thankful to the pioneering conscious educators and education institutions, who have, and are, opening up their hearts and minds so that Youth Yoga is made possible for our youth.
