THE WOMEN'S BAKERY (TWB) PROGRAMS EXIST TO GAINFULLY EMPLOY WOMEN IN BAKERIES, OPERATE BAKERIES WHICH WILL BECOME PROFITABLE AND SELF-SUSTAINING, AND TO SUPPORT BAKERS WITH SOCIAL SUPPORT RESOURCES. IN 2020: TWB EMPLOYED 51 WOMEN DIRECTLY, 45 OF WHOM ARE RWANDESE. WOMEN BAKERS EARNED A 500% - 1,000% INCREASE TO THEIR ANNUAL INCOMES. ALL TWB TEAM MEMBERS HAVE ACCESS TO MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, FINANCIAL LITERACY LESSONS, REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH TRAINING, NUTRITION LESSONS, AND MORE. TWB WAS AFFECTED BY COVID-19, FORCING BAKERY CLOSURES MULTIPLE TIMES FOR MULTIPLE WEEKS. BECAUSE OF TWB'S SUPPORTERS, NO EMPLOYEE WAS LET GO, NO SALARIES WERE JEOPARDIZED, AND RWANDA-BASED TEAM MEMBERS RECEIVED 2 MONTHS' WORTH OF DRY FOOD GOODS AT THE HEIGHT OF THE PANDEMIC. THE WOMEN'S BAKERY (TWB) IS MORE THAN A CONCEPT - TWB IS A VIABLE COMMITMENT TO A VISION FOR WHAT THE WORLD CAN BE: A WORLD THAT ELEVATES WOMEN FOR THEIR INHERENT POWER, AND PROMOTES BUSINESS AS A TOOL FOR LASTING, POSITIVE SOCIAL IMPACT. TWB HAS MADE IT THROUGH SERIOUSLY CHALLENGING TIMES. WHEN BUSINESSES GLOBALLY SHUTTERED BECAUSE THE EXTERNAL VOLATILITIES WERE TOO MUCH, TWB STOOD STRONG OUR PROVERBIAL ARMS OUTSTRETCHED LIKE A PROTECTIVE PARENT, SAFEGUARDING OUR TEAM, CUSTOMERS, AND COMMUNITIES. TWB HAS NOT JUST WEATHERED STORMS, BUT PERSEVERED AMIDST TIDAL WAVES OF DISRUPTIONS AND SETBACKS. TWB REMAINED STRONG BECAUSE OF OUR TEAM EMPLOYEES AND GENEROUS SUPPORTERS, LIKE YOU. THANK YOU. TWB CONTINUES TO GROW. OUR ONE BREAD PROJECT, A DONOR-SUPPORTED SCHOOL SNACK PROGRAM, GREW FROM 15,6000 STUDENTS SERVED DAILY TO 20,000+. IN 2023, TWB EMPLOYED 47 WOMEN DIRECTLY, 45 OF WHOM ARE EAST AFRICAN AND 41 OF WHOM ARE WOMEN, ACROSS THREE BAKERIES IN RWANDA. ALL TWB TEAM MEMBERS HAVE ACCESS TO MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, FINANCIAL LITERACY LESSONS, REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH TRAINING, NUTRITION LESSONS, AND MORE. ALL TEAM MEMBERS HAVE COMPANY HEALTH INSURANCE, BENEFITING 139 DEPENDENTS. 90% OF WOMEN BAKERS REPORTED FEELING CONFIDENT IN THEIR BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF FINANCES, SPECIFICALLY SAVING AND BUDGETING. TWB CONTINUES TO GROW - OUR BAKERIES SALES GREW FROM $112,000 IN 2023 TO $170,000 IN 2024, HELPING TO OFFSET AND BETTER SUSTAIN OUR OUR ONE BREAD PROJECT COSTS, A (PRIMARILY) DONOR-SUPPORTED SCHOOL SNACK PROGRAM. OUR ONE BREAD PROJECT GREW IN 2024 TO SERVE 22,000+ PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN EVERY SCHOOL DAY. IN 2024, TWB DIRECTLY EMPLOYED 50 PEOPLE, 48 OF WHOM ARE EAST AFRICAN AND 41 OF WHOM ARE WOMEN. ALL TWB TEAM MEMBERS HAVE ACCESS TO MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, FINANCIAL LITERACY LESSONS, ON-SITE DAY CARES, AND WOMEN BAKERS HAVE ONGOING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS. ALL TEAM MEMBERS HAVE COMPANY HEALTH INSURANCE, BENEFITING APPROXIMATELY 100 DEPENDENTS. WE ARE COMMITTED TO EMPOWERING OUR TEAM MEMBERS BY PROVIDING ACCESS TO FINANCIAL RESOURCES AND ADDRESSING HUNGER. AN INTERNAL SURVEY REVEALED THAT ONLY ONE TEAM MEMBER REPORTED OCCASIONALLY EXPERIENCING HUNGER, A REMARKABLE IMPROVEMENT COMPARED TO PREVIOUS YEARS WHEN APPROXIMATELY 19% OF PARTICIPANTS (ROUGHLY 7 TEAM MEMBERS) REPORTED SOMETIMES GOING TO BED HUNGRY.
