Kansas History Education and Preservation
Create an understanding and appreciation of Kansas history through the following: scripts for tours and exhibits at the Kansas Museum of History, the 17 state-owned historic sites, and the Capitol Visitors Center; development of PK-12 curriculum materials for Kansas classrooms, including educational videos and Traveling Resource Trunks; and hosting of special events such as Kansas Day (with roughly 2,000 in-person attendees and over 10,000 virtual participants), standards-aligned guided tours, and living history programs at our one-room 1920s Stach Schoolhouse.Provide funding for the management, acquisition, preservation and online publication of the enduring records of Kansas state and local governments, newspapers, manuscripts, photographs, maps and plans, websites and audio and visual records, in analog and digital formats, in the collections and through the programs of the State Archives.Expend funds to provide benefits to organization members.
