JWI Domestic Violence Initiatives
JWIs National center on domestic and sexual violence in the Jewish community houses the organizations work to end gender-based violence. Through the center, JWI trains those who work in the domestic violence field through JWIs collaborative of Jewish domestic violence programs and the national alliance to end domestic abuse. Through initiatives like here for you and the Jewish communal response teams, JWI brings trauma-informed training to Jewish organizations in order to better support survivors and their children. JWI builds childrens libraries in domestic violence shelters through the national library initiative. JWI staff conducts research, including the 2022 national needs. Assessment of Jewish domestic violence survivors and programs. The organization convenes the clergy task force to end domestic abuse in the Jewish community, the interfaith coalition to end domestic and sexual violence, and the Jewish gun violence prevention roundtable. JWIs advocacy team works for systemic change through legislation that supports and protects survivors. JWIs Womens Leadership Work is housed in the Sondra D. Bender Leadership Institute. JWI mentors the next generation of Jewish women leaders through the young womens impact networks, now found in 10 cities across the U.S. And in Tel Aviv, Israel. JWI hosts an annual womens leadership conference in connection with women to watch recognizing ten outstanding Jewish women role models and leaders from a diversity of fields. JWI provides leadership training with a gender lens to women working at senior levels in Jewish community organizations through its Jewish communal womens leadership project and masterclasses. And staff engages men as allies to bring about workplace safety and equity through its at the table: men as allies in workplace equity series. JWIs Womens Financial Empowerment Institute is home to the organizations work to drive access to long-term economic security. JWIs educators train staff at shelters and programs across the U.S. To deliver its lifesavings financial education series developed specifically for survivors of domestic violence and financial abuse through restart, JWIs staff work directly with survivors for emotional and job readiness. The advocacy team advocates for justice lending initiatives to state legislators.
