COMPUTERS4KIDS (C4K) COMBINES MENTORING AND TECHNOLOGY TO PREPARE YOUTH FOR BRIGHTER FUTURES. C4K PROVIDES MENTORING IN A CREATIVE, SAFE, AND SUPPORTIVE OUT-OF-SCHOOL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT, ACCESS TO PROFESSIONAL-GRADE TECHNOLOGY, PROJECT-BASED LEARNING, AND YOUTH LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES. THIS YEAR WE RENOVATED OUR SPACE AND RELOCATED TO A TEMPORARY SPACE FROM THE START OF THE FISCAL YEAR THROUGH THE END OF DECEMBER. WE ANTICIPATED A RETURN TO PROGRAMMING IN JANUARY, BUT AN INCREASE IN COVID CASES NECESSITATED AN EXTENDED CLOSURE. WE REOPENED FOR IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING AT THE END OF FEBRUARY. FOR THE PAST TWO DECADES, CHARLOTTESVILLE AND ALBEMARLE YOUTH HAVE IMAGINED BRIGHTER FUTURES AT C4K. THROUGH ACCESS, SUPPORTIVE MENTORS, AND GENEROUS LOCAL PARTNERS, C4K OFFERS PARTICIPANTS SPACE TO SEE THEMSELVES WITHIN AN ENGAGED COMMUNITY OF TECHNOLOGY AND LEARNING.FILLED WITH TOOLS THAT UNLOCK CREATIVE POTENTIAL, OUR C4K CLUBHOUSE IS A PLACE FOR MAKING AMAZING THINGS HAPPEN. LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN CHARLOTTESVILLE, OUR SPACE FOASTERS CURIOSITY AND ENABLES THE CONFIDENCE-BUILDING EXPLORATIONS THAT POWER ALL OUR PROGRAMS.DISCOVERY IS OUR GUIDE. FROM 3D PRINTING, TO GAME DEVELOPMENT, TO ANIMATION, YOUTH AND MENTORS BUILD RELATIONSHIPS AS THEY CREATE AND GROW TOGETHER. THESE CONNECTIONS BRIDGE GAPS AND EXPAND OPPORTUNITIES.
