    DURING FISCAL YEAR 2021, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED 93,328 ENCOUNTERS: MEDICAL VISITS 42,295 MENTAL HEALTH VISITS 10,882 DENTAL VISITS 15,841 FARMWORKER SCREENINGS 24,310A MAJORITY OF PATIENTS ARE UNINSURED WITH A MAJORITY WITH INCOMES BELOW 200% OF THE FEDERAL POVERTY INCOME LEVELS (WHO DO NOT QUALIFY FOR MEDICAID). DURING THE YEAR, THE ORGANIZATION RESPONDED TO THE COVID-19 EPIDEMIC BY PROVIDING SCREENINGS OF PATIENTS AND TESTING SYMPTOMATIC PATIENTS REGARDLESS OF INCOME.

    Contentnea Health operates five Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) serving a three-county region in eastern North Carolina. In 2024, we provided comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioral health services to 34,446 individual patients through more than 71,800 patient visits. Our centers focus on increasing access to care for medically underserved populations, including uninsured individuals, agricultural workers, and public housing residents. Approximately 85% of patients had no insurance and were offered discounted services through a sliding fee scale based on federal poverty guidelines, with many qualifying for nominal fees due to income levels at or below the poverty line. We distributed $820 million in medications and supplies to support patient health and adherence to treatment plans. Contentnea Health also provided critical outreach through school-based health services, care coordination, and health education initiatives, ensuring that vulnerable populations received timely and affordable care.
