HOUSE OF MERCY, IN ALIGNMENT WITH ITS NEW MISSION STATEMENT, EMBARKED ON A STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE CURRENT MODEL FIT THE UNMET NEEDS OF OUR TIME. AFTER MONTHS OF RESEARCH AND DISCERNMENT, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, ELECTED TO CHANGE THE BUSINESS MODEL FROM A FAMILY CARE HOME TO A CASE MANAGEMENT MODEL WITH SHORT-TERM HOUSING OPTIONS FOR OUR MOST VULNERABLE NEIGHBORS LIVING WITH HIV. ADDITIONALLY, WE ELECTED NOT TO ACCEPT ANY NEW RESIDENTS FROM JANUARY 2023 TO JUNE 2023 SO THAT RENOVATIONS TO THE HOME COULD BE COMPLETED, AND WE COULD ENSURE THAT ALL STAFF WERE TRAINED ON TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE, HOUSING FIRST, AND HARM REDUCTION. SIX PATIENTS WERE SERVED AND THE HOUSE OF MERCY PROVIDED 912 DAYS OF PATIENT CARE (212 OF THOSE DAYS WERE CHARITY CARE DAYS IN FISCAL YEAR 2023. THE POSITIVE CONNECTIONS PROGRAM ASSISTED 17 INDIVIDUALS WITH EMERGENCY NEEDS.
