Research and Clinical TrialsGeorgia CORE's focus on increasing access to clinical trials has contributed to an eight-fold expansion in cancer trials and growth of community research in urban and rural areas. The organization facilitates an award-winning research collaboration among leading community cancer centers with funding from the National Cancer Institute and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 100 qualified oncologists conduct 60 clinical trials from 6 regional hubs. Breast Cancer Screening and Genetic Risk AssessmentGeorgia CORE raises funds for breast cancer screening of rural, underserved and minority women via sale of Georgia's Breast Cancer License Tag. In partnership with the State Office of Rural Health, over $3.5 million has been awarded to 26 community partners to conduct screening and education. In collaboration with the Georgia Department of Public Health, genetic risk assessment for Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer is offered in 14 districts where Georgia CORE provides genetic testing, services, consultation, and education. Cancer Survivorship and NavigationSurvivors are involved in all aspects of Georgia CORE - serving on the Survivorship Advisory Council, Board of Directors, as staff and volunteers. The organization has conducted multiple surveys of the needs of cancer survivors and disseminated findings to cancer care professionals. Georgia CORE fills a critical need for a coordinated and centralized platform for survivors to access cancer information and resources - the Cancer Survivorship Connection via GeorgiaCancerInfo.org.
