Early Intervention- The Arc of Palm Beach County's First Step to Success program provides in-home services throughout Palm Beach County to families of children from birth to five years of age who demonstrate a mild delay in child development. The Arc's team of developmental specialists works with children and their families to strengthen children's skills in the areas of cognition, communication, movement, coordination, social/emotional and self-help. These specialists focus on supporting the parent/child relationship and helping the child achieve developmental milestones. The Healthy Steps to Success program provides developmental services in local pediatricians' offices bringing families and health care providers together to improve the health, development and emotional wellness of children from six months to age three. Services provided include a child development line, links to community resources, home visits, parent groups and more. Residential Services - The Arc provides housing for adults who are developmentally disabled throughout Palm Beach County. These homes are designed to help adults over 18 acquire the skills necessary to enhance their quality of life and achieve their highest level of independence. These facilities are staffed 24 hours a day. Each resident has a personal plan that identifies goals and achievement strategies. During the day, every resident participates in a meaningful activity with many engaged in employment related activities. Moreover, rehabilitation services are provided that offer training activities to help residents acquire, maintain or improve upon skills related to daily living. Education - Potentials School is a tuition-free, independently run public school providing the best in education with integrated therapies in a safe, nurturing environment for exceptional children in Palm Beach County. The school provides intensive classroom learning experiences, as well as speech, occupational, physical and vision therapy for children from preschool through the eighth grade who have severe disabilities in the areas of communication and ambulation.
