Puerto Rico Women's Foundation Grants
The Puerto Rico Women's Foundation distributed $46,600 in grants among 10 community-based organizations that serve, organize and advocate for women, girls, and the non-binary community of Puerto Rico. We secured $401,000 in grants to the Foundation which will be used for our infrastructure and for grantmaking for the fiscal year 2022-2023. The focus of the Foundation was to continue building the infrastructure, by finalizing the transition of responsibilities to the Executive Director, and hire a Program Officer, and a Communications Associate. We also developed a more robust strategic and development plan to look forward to the growth of the Foundation in 3 the next years. The Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico distributed $867,500 in grants to grassroots organizations serving women, girls, and gender-diverse communities across Puerto Rico, with a continued focus on supporting groups outside the San Juan metropolitan area. We launched a robust capacity-building and technical assistance program tailored to the needs of emerging organizations. In parallel, we strengthened our institutional infrastructure by developing internal protocols and operational manuals. During the reporting period Fundacin de Mujeres en Puerto Rico distributed $437,000 in grants to ten community-based organizations two of which were fiscal agents for three emerging organizations bringing the total to 11 grantees. Organizations providing services to women and girls and other vulnerable populations across Puerto Rico. Grantmaking efforts were implemented throughout the archipelago including the island municipalities with attention to broad geographic distribution. Support included unrestricted and operational funding as well as capacity-building and technical assistance designed to strengthen organizational effectiveness and sustainability. The Foundation also continued to enhance its internal systems and controls with particular emphasis during this period on financial management and transparency.
