Theological Education Program
THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION - THE ORGANIZATION WAS ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN AN ADVANCED THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION. IT WAS DESIGNED AS A COLLEGE OFFERING A TWO-YEAR ASSOCIATES OF ARTS DEGREE, A FOUR-YEAR BACHELOR OF ARTS, AND GRADUATE DEGREES, DOING SO IN RECOGNITION OF GOD'S DESIRE TO TRAIN FOR MINISTRY INDIGENOUS LEADERS AROUND THE WORLD. THE SCHOOL SEEKS TO PROMOTE SPIRITUAL, INTELLECTUAL, AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT IN A CHRISTIAN ENVIRONMENT AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATEMENT OF FAITH, CONSTITUTION, AND BYLAWS OF THE SCHOOL. THE SCHOOL OFFERS A STUDENT-INSTRUCTOR MENTOR RELATIONSHIP, AS WELL AS MENTOR RELATIONSHIPS WITH MINISTRY LEADERS. CURRENTLY THE SCHOOL OPERATES FROM ONE CAMPUS IN EL DORADO HILLS, CA AND SATELLITE LOCATIONS IN OTHER STATES AND COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD. TOTAL ENROLLMENT FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 19/20 WAS SERIOUSLY IMPACTED BY THE INITIAL PANDEMIC SHUTDOWN. HOWEVER, THE SCHOOL HAS BEEN DELIVERING REMOTE EDUCATION FOR CLOSE TO A DECADE. SUM Bible College and Theological Seminary (SUM) equips indigenous leaders fromAmerica and the nations of the world with an affordable theological education that blends academic instruction with practical hands-on ministry and personal mentorship. Our mission is to empower these leaders to be instruments of change in their communities. Currently, SUM offers six degrees at undergraduate and graduate levels (MDiv, MABS, MACL, BATM,BAWM, AATM) that are regionally (WASC) and nationally accredited (ABHE). Since 2008,the launch of its Cohort Model and online delivery method has allowed SUM to expand into several states within the U.S. and globally, enrolling students from over 25 countries.In the years following the onset of COVID-19, despite an enrollment decline, SUM hasproactively adapted by digitizing nearly all of its degree offerings for online access.
