Youth Support and After-School Programming
Youth At Heart, Inc. (YAH) turned 45 years old in 2021 but continued to experience challenges in due to the continued COVID-19 Pandemic. YAH was thrilled to serve our youth and families in-person again starting in March 2021. Since then, YAH has continued after-school programming in-person. YAH participated in an extensive and robust summer program pilot with community partners to assist in the learning loss from the pandemic. During this time, YAH delivered over 500 hours of summer programming, and educational field trips 79 students went to the Tulsa Aquarium, 149 students went to the Discovery Lab, 71 students went to the Tulsa Zoo, 77 students went to the Tulsa Air and Space Museum, and 65 students went to the Tulsa Park and Rec Pools. In 2021, YAH served 396 youth, which was an increase from 2020. YAH continued to work with community partners to help YAH students and their families by providing 18,661 snacks and meals. The 5 highest needs for YAH students and parents continue to be:1.Food Insecurity2.Lack of Behavioral Management Skills3.Below Grade Level Academic Scorers4.Lack of Consistent Parent Support5.Limited or no family personal transportationYAH continues to serve students and families at high-need and underserved schools in Tulsa.
