Wildlife Rehabilitation and Community Support
Austin Wildlife Rescue operates a busy intake center serving close to 10,000 orphaned, injured, and sick wild animals each year from Austin and surrounding counties. Each day, animals are evaluated and stabilized before transfer to our Elgin rehabilitation center, where staff provide treatment until they are ready for release. We successfully rehabilitate about 60% of the wildlife brought to us, while also supporting the community through a hotline that fields more than 14,000 calls annually. In 2024, expenses increased as we strengthened our capacity to meet rising demand. We enhanced staff compensation to support retention, secured a year-round contract with our lead veterinarian to ensure consistent, high-quality medical oversight, and expanded fundraising efforts to sustain these improvements. These investments were necessary as the number of wild animals we cared for grew by more than 550 compared to 2023, bringing the total to nearly 10,000 animals.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.4M
