Emergency Services Program
Emergency services provided food, shelter, utility assistance, housing assistance, medication assistance, clothing, household/other in-kind assistance, special programs assistance, and/or referral assistance. 2,326 families, representing 5,816 individuals, received emergency services (does not include families interviewed and served through Some Other Place special programs). The Some Other Place home delivery meal program currently has 275 homebound individuals on the program based on their needs. The Back to School Program served 1,675 children with new school clothing, supplies & backpacks. Additional children were served with school supplies following the actual BTS distribution. The Thanksgiving store was canceled. The Thanksgiving Day meal provided approximately 300 meals served on site and 250 meals home delivered by over 100 volunteers and 480 meals were prepared to be delivered throughout the community. The Nutrition Center served 71,082 meals during the year, both on-site and home-delivered. Henry's Place, which provides a brief respite from the streets for the homeless, received an undetermined number of visits made by homeless individuals. The Giving Tree Christmas program served 380 children, 250 home delivered meals, and over 805 nursing home residents. The Christmas Day meal served 120 meals on site and 150 meals were home delivered by Temple Emanuel and other volunteers. SOP received (as best as we could keep count) over 3,800 phone calls for assistance in 2022.
