Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas ("THD") is an 875-bed acute care hospital accredited by The Joint Commission providing care to the residents of Dallas and surrounding communities since 1966. THD is dedicated to Quality Emergency Care and has been recognized for advanced GI surgical procedures, orthopedics, neurosciences and heart & vascular. In 2023, THD is designated a Level I Major Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons. THD earned its fourth Magnet designation in 2021. THD was re-designated by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center and is certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Care Center. THD received the Comprehensive Heart Attack Center (CHAC) designation- 1st in Texas. THD was awarded the 2022 Get with the Guidelines STEMI Gold Plus & NSTEMI Gold, and NCDR Silver Performance Award for Chest Pain MI Registry THD was re-accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) as an Inpatient Rehabilitation Program and Inpatient Rehabilitation Program Hospital Stroke Specialty Program. THD received the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer's Outstanding Achievement Award five consecutive times. THD was re-designated as a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation Quality Improvement Program by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. THD has a Level IV Maternal designation and a Level III NICU designation. THD received the Baby Friendly Designation by the World Health Organization and has been named "Best Place to Have a Baby" in Dallas County by Dallas Child magazine readers numerous times. Texas Health Dallas has more than 3,000 employees and more than 1,600 physicians practicing on its medical staff. On December 15, 2015, THD and two University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center hospitals integrated into Southwestern Health Resources ("SWHR") network through the formation of a Joint Operating Company. THD had 142,077 patient days, 26,547 discharges, 4,058 births, 108,184 outpatient encounters, and 64,677 outpatient emergency room visits during the calendar year. THD provides quality medical healthcare regardless of a patient's race, creed, sex, national origin, handicap, age or ability to pay. The hospital provides care to persons covered by governmental programs including Medicare and Medicaid for reimbursement that does not always cover the cost of providing the care. Recognizing its mission to the community, services are provided to both financially indigent and medically indigent patients.
