Bat Care and Rehabilitation Program
Bat World Sanctuary is dedicated to the care, rehabilitation and release of injured bats as well as a sanctuary for non-releasable bats. This year we saved over 840 orphaned, injured and displaced bats in the USA and internationally. We shared protocols with Directors of Animal Services across the State of Texas on updating their Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to the safe and humane handling of bats. We assisted home and business owners in the US, Malaysia and the Island of Roatan with humane bat exclusion guidelines. We participated with the University of Milan in investigating the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the conservation of bats.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$604.4KGlobal Bat Education and Conservation
As the only accredited sanctuary for bats in the world, we continue to collaborate with US Fish and Wildlife Department on efforts to control White Nose Syndrome. We educated 68 new bat rehabilitators in the US as well as Canada, Ireland, England, Bulgaria, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. We hired a bi-lingual Director of Education proficient in ASL to further our worldwide education efforts. A viral video of our rescue work reached over 40 million people and created positive media for bats around the world.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2022 – Dec 31, 2022Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$13.2K
