Program 1 [2020]
Funding from "unrestrictedX and ALS Cure Project leveraged LLNL and Gladstone expertise to set the stage for what might be possible with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease. Using physics-based computational modeling and multi-modal machine learning, scientists provided comparative experimental and computational results, identifying the potential factors that lead to ALS and studying populations that might be at higher risk.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$420.1KProgram 2 [2020]
Funding from the Clean and Sustainable Energy (CASE) Fund allowed the Foundation to survey more than 1,200 residents in the San Joaquin Delta region and Kern County on their views on climate change, carbon neutrality and carbon capture and storage. Both of these areas represent some of the most suitable locations for long-term geological storage of CO2. The results are shaping an outreach toolkit to provide stakeholders, community leaders and educators with the science behind carbon neutrality as well as societal benefits.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$383.8KProgram 3 [2020]
Through academic, community, and professional partnerships, LLF offers fellowship and internship opportunities for undergraduate through post doctoral scholars at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. LLF provides direct student funding, allowing more time for research, studies, and ultimate success in scientific careers, and supports interns with assigned Lab mentors and access to LLNL facilities and resources. Special focus is on students from diverse and underrepresented populations in STEM fields. LLF funding covers research-related equipment, conferences, travel, living expenses, and related costs not covered by LLNL.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$121.8K
