Household Needs Assistance Program
Household Needs consist of BillPay, NonFood Pantry services. BillPay helps families who are struggling to pay rent, mortgage, electric, gas and water bills. Servants Heart assistance keeps families from becoming homeless through a focus on helping them remain housed. Servants Heart assisted with $124,253 in payments directly to the businesses owed past due funds by clients. Our NonFood Pantry is a unique service that identifies 25 categories of items needed daily or weekly to maintain good health and hygiene; items that cannot be purchased with food stamps. After qualifying, clients select brands they enjoy using including laundry detergent, toothpaste, feminine hygiene, toilet paper, etc. Families receive a 1-month supply per visit to this pantry with full-sized items. Food deficiencies were met with our Emergency Food Pantry, Loaves & Fishes, and Turkey Tuesday. Our emergency food pantry serves families daily, Loaves & Fishes distribution is weekly. Turkey Tuesday gives traditional Thanksgiving groceries so clients can enjoy their meal when it suits their schedule and prepared using their favorite recipes. Each family also receives a gift card to purchase the meat of their choice, and a $20 food card for special ingredients to complete their meal. The amount of food families receive is based on the number of people in the home. In total, our programs provided for 2,153 people in 2021. Other assistance includes Client Shopping where clients are given a spending cap, based on family size and situation, to shop in our Community Boutique for clothing and household necessities. Back to School Progam for Children. Serves school-aged clients which gives fully stocked bookbags to children PreK - 8th-grade based on the grade level list from the school they will attend. The bookbags are prepared and collected by their parents before the first day of school. High school and college students are also served through this program. Servants Heart gave 448 children up to $100 in toys per their parents choosing through our Christmas program. Teenagers through college (13 years old and up) received a $75 Target or Walmart gift card which buys significantly more than the initial card purchase when used after Christmas.
