    In 2020, the MDSC completed its third cycle of comprehensive audits of participating dairy farms' compliance with standards for working and housing conditions. This has included fact finding, report writing, problem solving, and developing Corrective Action Plans in collaboration with participating farms when needed to ensure continuous improvement and increase levels of compliance on each participating farm. The MDSC has continued to staff a bilingual 24/7 support line, respond to questions raised and investigate complaints made, and then work towards the resolution of complaints that arise where the facts establish a violation of the program's Code of Conduct. The MDSC has continued its development of the Milk with Dignity Program tools, materials, resources, and infrastructure for continued investigation of workers' complaints, auditing of conditions on farms, and provision of compliance assistance to participating farms. In 2020, the MDSC also expanded its work to attract additional resources to support farms' efforts to make housing improvements where needed. All of the MDSC's program expenses are dedicated to the organization's work implementing the Milk with Dignity Program standards on and with participating farms and monitoring those farms' compliance with the standards.

  • Milk with Dignity Program

    MDSC COMPLETES COMPREHENSIVE AUDITS OF PARTICIPATING DAIRY FARMS COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARDS FOR WORKING AND HOUSING CONDITIONS.   • Housing Construction for Dairy Workers

    RESPONDING TO THE CURRENT HOUSING CRISIS IN THE STATE OF VERMONT, MDSC UNDERTOOK A FUNDRAISING PROJECT AND SET UP A PASS-THROUGH ACCOUNT FOR HOUSING CONSTRUCTION FOR WORKERS ON DAIRY FARMS. BY WAY OF COLLABORATION WITH GRANTMAKING AGENCIES AND PRIVATE DONORS, WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR FARMS THAT PARTICIPATE IN OUR PROGRAM TO HAVE ACCESS TO ENERGY EFFICIENT MODULAR HOUSING.
