Ignacio House of Studies Renovation Project
Beyond the Walls:This past year, Thrive For Life undertook major renovations of a new site for our Ignacio House of Studies program. Thanks to the generosity of His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Thrive For Life moved into a new space in East Harlem that is maximally conducive to building strong bonds of community for our returning brothers continuing the good work of college education. Thanks to the support of several generous benefactors, Thrive For Life commenced much-needed renovations and repairs to the 100+ year old structure that allowed us to transform the space into a home for our resident scholars. Such improvements included a completely new kitchen, dining room, living space, chapel, and bedrooms to serve up to 15 residents as they continue their studies. Additionally, we continue to make strides in Milwaukee, WI where we endeavor to open our doors to a new cohort of scholars as early as June 2024.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2022 – Jun 30, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$507.8KRetreat Programming Behind Prison Walls
Behind the Walls:Over the course of the last fiscal year, Thrive For Life has continued to forge faith community partnerships to support our retreat programming behind the prison walls throughout New York State. Each week, Fr. Zach and trained mentors visit one of six different correctional facilities to offer classical, meditative resources for an examined life to our incarcerated brothers and sisters with the help of various parishes who provide supplies and mentors to assist in this endeavor. We continue to forge close relationships with well over 50+ parishes throughout the Archdiocese of New York and the Diocese of Brooklyn, each of whom are committed to our mission to transform lives. We have leveraged these relationships to extend our retreat programming, as well, to families impacted by incarceration where we once again held our Day of Prayer for Our Incarcerated Brothers and Sisters in Corona, Queens at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2022 – Jun 30, 2023Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$78.9KProgram 1 [2025]
Beyond the Walls: Thrive for Life currently operates two supportive living communities in New York and one in Milwaukee, each serving as a house of studies for highly motivated individuals returning from incarceration who are continuing their education and rebuilding their lives. Ignacio House Manhattan Home to 12 resident scholars, Ignacio House provides a structured, faith-filled environment for individuals who are continuing their college or vocational studies. This past year, we successfully launched a workforce training program in floral design, in partnership with a local florist. The program offers residents both creative and practical skills that can lead to long-term employment in the floral and hospitality industries. -See continuation in Schedule OGeographiesNot indicatedDatesJul 1, 2024 – Jun 30, 2025Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.1M
