Invention Factory Program
Invention Factory (IF) An existing program of the Foundation, Invention Factory is an intensive six-week residential summer program in inventing for undergraduate engineering and design students in India. To date, a total of 146 students from 20 IITs and 6 NITs have participated in the program with 74 provisional patent applications filed in India and the USA. In 2023 the program was conducted at 3 locations, IIT Bombay, IIT Gandhinagar and IIT Jammu. 30 student teams (59 students) from 12 IITS and 6 NITs participated in the program which resulted in 30 provisional patents filed both in the USA and India. Tinkerers Labs (TLs) - Tinkerers Labs are 24/7 student-managed academic makerspaces set up in partnership with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in India. In 2023, MBF supported the establishment of 2 new labs at Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai in Maharashtra and IIT Indore, Madhya Pradesh. In total there are 11 TLs that have been set up in India. Learn Engineering by Activity Program (LEAP) This programme was launched in 2021 in partnership with IIT Madras to provide IIT-style, industry-oriented Project Based Learning courses to tier II & tier III engineering colleges in India. In 2023, LEAP courses were expanded by 6 colleges in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala with 1363 as student beneficiaries with 118 faculty trained and 41 projects worked on.
