Program 1 [2020]
Secure Democracy efforts had a significant impact on ballot access and elections policy throughout the country. In Arizona, Governor Ducey issued an EO providing PPE to counties for in-person polling locations and allowed state employees to serve as poll workers on Election Day, without impacting their pay or leave time. As a result, despite the pandemic, there were no poll worker shortages, no polling place consolidation, and voters were able to vote without undue health risks. We also worked closely with election officials in Maricopa and Pima Counties to successfully prevent the closure of in-person polling places. Secure Democracy helped advance voting rights restoration in CA through our support of legislative efforts to pass ACA 6 which led to voters' approval of Prop 17, the constitutional amendment restoring voting rights to people on parole. We advocated and helped pass legislation and supported Executive Orders that expanded the ballot casting choice in CT, FL, GA, KY, MI, MN, NE and OH. Secure Democracy advocates also participated in efforts to secure federal funding for election administrators to ensure ballot safety and access. Secure Democracy?s success resulted from sophisticated use of polling, research and a commitment to non-partisan advocacy.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$4.3MVoting Advocacy and Election Security
