HPWA continues to lead the revitalization of the Gallinas River Park in the center of Las Vegas, NM. Work has continued to restore healthy conditions to the Gallinas River and its riparian area by starting a new phase of restoration on one-quarter mile of river downstream of the previous phase. For the Gallinas on-the-ground projects: completed trails and repaired man-made log dams in the Santa Fe National Forest. Completed an in-stream restoration project and designed another in-stream project to be completed in 2021. Mora River Watershed on-the-ground projects: For Phase 1A, finished work on Phase 1A by completing erosion control, and riparian and upland revegetation projects. Developed restoration plans for 3 properties which will lead to future projects done by HPWA and the landowners. For Phase 1B, began work on the Lower Mora River Restoration, focusing on designing an in-stream restoration project at Rio Mora National Wildlife Refuge and doing educational programs. Wolf Creek projects: began work studies needed to develop a Watershed Based Plan for Wolf Creek. Wolf Creek restoration continued in 2020, funded by a NAWCA grant.
