Civic Engagement and Leadership Development
In 2024, Ground Game Fund advanced civic engagement and leadership development across Texas by educating and activating underrepresented communities - especially young, Black, and Latino residents - around local governance and policy change. We organized over events in communities across Austin, Dallas, Lockhart, the Rio Grande Valley, and San Marcos. These efforts helped community members better understand how local government functions, what ballot initiatives are, and how they can participate in shaping local policy. Ground Game Fund also collected over 60,000 written declarations of support for local policy changes - a key part of our education model that invites people to learn about proposed policies and express their values in writing. Many of these signers are infrequent voters who are not reached by traditional civic engagement efforts. Additionally, we worked on policy development and coalition building as we map out our strategy from 2030 in Texas. We also started designing a new phase of our Community Crews initiative - a nonpartisan leadership development program that will train and support local organizers to host regular educational gatherings, provide civic information, and connect residents with tools to advocate for themselves and their communities.GeographiesNot indicatedDatesJan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024Source990No causes providedNo populations provided–$1.8M
