Green Corps Job Training Program
GREEN CORPS: Groundwork's Green Corps young-adult workforce is a mechanism for community engagement and job creation. Young-adults from the city are trained and certified with technical skills in water quality testing greenhouse management invasive species removal green readiness environmental infrastructure design and maintenance and energy efficiency. Employees receive multiple certifications applicable to their work and job sectors. Green industries are growing across the country. Participants in the Green Corps graduate equipped with the certifications and skills to acquire jobs in industries such as greenhouse production energy efficiency and natural resource management. GREEN TEAM: Groundwork has built the region's largest youth green jobs program with a focus on environmental justice and education. We are working with Cincinnati Public Schools the Cincinnati Park Board and other partner agencies to provide safe outdoor education and income-generating activities for youth participating in urban agriculture land restoration and sustainability activities. EDUCATION COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT and CITIZEN SCIENCE: Groundwork's community engagement and citizen science programs blend community and environmental improvements. Restoration of public spaces like parks streetscapes and rivers incorporate community and economic development though supporting green jobs and beautifying communities. Community engagement is the foundation of our programming and allows for community-driven change creation of greenspace building healthy neighborhoods and revitalizing urban watersheds. Groundwork leads local youth in understanding urban agriculture and environmental restoration. Youth have the opportunity to learn and gain employment by growing plants designing sustainability projects and supporting their community. Groundwork's hands-on approach promotes green jobs training and STEM education. Groundwork's internships focus on green infrastructure and its effect on the natural environment.
