Human Trafficking Initiatives
Human Trafficking: In 2023, The Knoble launched impactful human trafficking initiatives, notably Operation US Open and the Super Bowl 2023 efforts, in collaboration with Homeland Security. Operation US Open engaged 28 individuals from 26 organizations, while the Super Bowl initiative involved 28 organizations and detected 348 suspect transactions with 43 referrals to law enforcement. Additionally, the Organization hosted two Human Trafficking Roundtables, one of which attracted 260 registrants and 156 attendees, fostering crucial discussions between financial institutions and law enforcement. Scams: In 2023, The Knoble made significant strides in tackling financial scams through various initiatives. The Organization developed a microlearning module focused on gift card scams, downloaded by 40 individuals and supported by 20 retailers, enhancing awareness and prevention strategies. Additionally, the Organization updated the Scam Definitions and Typologies resource in collaboration with industry leaders like Ken Palla and Mission Omega, resulting in over 220 downloads. The Organization also hosted two insightful roundtable sessions: one on marketplace scams and another on romance and relationship scams, with the latter attracting 461 registrants, marking the highest engagement to date. Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE): In 2023, The Knoble made substantial progress in addressing Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) through several key initiatives. The Organization successfully kicked off Phase 2 of Project Umbra, involving over 40 participants, including 8 of the top 10 financial institutions by asset size. The Organization also developed the Child Sexual Exploitations Investigations Training Guide to help bank investigators identify transactional indicators of CSE. This comprehensive training program aims to empower financial institutions to combat CSE more effectively. Furthermore, a virtual live training held on December 6th attracted 175 attendees from 21 different financial institutions.
